Terms of Use
Last updated: 28 September 2026
Please read these terms before using Akshara360. They are written in plain language; if anything is unclear, contact us.
1. Accepting these terms
These terms apply when you use the Akshara360 school management service provided by Akshara360 (“we”, “us”) on www.akshara360.com or in the Android app “akshara360” (together, the “Service”).
By opening or using the Service you agree to these terms. Our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy explain how information is handled. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. The Service and who may use it
- The Service is provided to schools. Only the school creates accounts — for its administrators, teachers and other staff, parents and guardians, and students — except a new school’s first administrator account, which we create. There is no self sign-up.
- What you can see and do depends on the role and permissions your school gives you.
- The school’s own agreement with Akshara360 covers its subscription, charges and other commercial terms. Where that agreement differs from these terms, the agreement prevails for the school.
- Anyone may use a school’s public admission-enquiry form to contact that school. Please enter accurate details.
3. Students and children
Many students are under 18. If you are under 18, your parent or guardian accepts these terms for you and is responsible for your use of the Service. A student may use the Service only through the account their school provides, under the supervision of a parent or guardian and the school.
4. Your account and password
- Keep your password secret and do not share your account. You are responsible for what is done under your login.
- A temporary password from your school must be changed the first time you sign in. Choose one that others cannot guess.
- If you think someone else knows your password or has used your account, change your password and tell your school administrator straight away.
- Your school can reset your password and can switch off a staff login at any time. Student and parent logins are switched off when the student leaves, as our Privacy Policy explains.
5. Acceptable use
Use the Service only for your school’s legitimate purposes. You must not:
- try to see or change records you are not permitted to, including other students’, families’ or schools’ information;
- try to get around permissions, sign in as someone else, or pretend to be another person;
- probe, scan or test the Service for weaknesses, or try to break or bypass its security;
- copy data out of the Service with automated tools (scraping), or put an unreasonable load on it;
- upload viruses or other harmful files or code;
- enter information you know is false or misleading, or content that belongs to someone else or that you have no right to share;
- share content that is defamatory, obscene, pornographic or paedophilic, invades someone’s privacy (including bodily privacy), insults or harasses anyone because of their gender, race or ethnicity, promotes money laundering or gambling, or stirs up hatred between groups because of religion or caste;
- share content that is harmful to a child;
- share content that infringes a patent, trademark, copyright or other intellectual property right;
- share content that threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, its friendly relations with other countries or public order, encourages an offence, or insults another country;
- harass, threaten or abuse anyone, or send them unwanted messages;
- use the Service in any way that breaks the law.
Messaging is also subject to the community rules shown in the app, which you accept before sending your first message.
6. Reporting and removing content
- To report a message or its sender, use Report in the app, or write to our Grievance Officer (see Contact). You can also block a user to stop direct messages in both directions.
- Staff whom your school allows to moderate messages can review reported messages and attachments and remove content that breaks these terms or the community rules. Breaking them can also lead to suspension (see Suspension and termination).
- We act on a court order or a lawful direction from the government within 36 hours, and within 24 hours on a complaint about content that shows a person’s private area or intimate images of them without consent, as the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 require.
7. Content and data
- School data belongs to the school. We do not claim ownership of the records, files or messages entered into the Service.
- The school gives us permission to store, process, copy and display that data only as needed to provide, secure and support the Service for the school, and as the law requires.
- You are responsible for what you enter or upload. Make sure it is accurate and that you are allowed to share it. We do not check what users enter.
- Marks, attendance, fees, certificates and other records are kept by your school. If you think something is wrong, ask your school to correct it.
8. Our intellectual property
The Service — its software, design, text and graphics, and the Akshara360 name and logo — belongs to Akshara360 or its licensors. You may use the Service only for its intended purpose while you have access. You may not copy, modify, resell or reverse-engineer it, except where the law expressly allows.
9. Fee payments
- Fees, due dates, concessions, fines and refunds are decided by your school.
- Online payment, when it is switched on, is made through Razorpay, using the Razorpay account set up for the Service, under Razorpay’s own terms. We never store full card numbers, CVV or UPI PIN.
- Questions about fees, a receipt or a refund should go to your school, which records refunds in the Service.
- If a payment fails or you are unsure whether it went through, check with your school before paying again.
10. Third-party services and links
The Service uses other companies’ services, such as payment processing and SMS delivery, and may contain links to other websites. We are not responsible for their content, availability or practices; their own terms and policies apply.
11. Availability and changes to the Service
We work to keep the Service available, but it may sometimes be unavailable, for example during maintenance or because of problems outside our control, such as internet or mobile network outages. We may add, change or remove features. SMS alerts depend on mobile networks and may be delayed or not delivered.
12. Suspension and termination
- Your school can switch off a staff login at any time, for example when the staff member leaves. A student’s login is switched off when the student is marked as left, and a parent’s login when a transfer certificate is issued for their last child at the school.
- We may suspend or restrict access if these terms are broken, to protect the Service or other users, or if the law requires.
- A school’s access can be switched off when its agreement with us ends or at its request. Nobody from that school can then sign in.
- What happens to data after that is explained in our Privacy Policy.
13. Disclaimer
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not promise that it will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that it will meet every need. To the extent the law allows, we make no other promises or warranties about the Service. Records in the Service are entered and managed by your school, which is responsible for their accuracy.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by the laws of India, Akshara360 is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of profits or goodwill, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service. We are not liable for loss of data, except where it was caused by our failure to take reasonable security measures or by our breach of our agreement with your school. We are also not liable for decisions made by your school, or for problems caused by your device, your internet connection or third-party services.
For schools, the liability terms in the school’s agreement with Akshara360 apply. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under Indian law.
15. Indemnity
If you are 18 or over, you agree to compensate Akshara360 for losses directly caused by your deliberate misuse or unlawful use of the Service, to the extent the law allows.
16. Governing law and courts
These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. This does not affect any right you have to approach a consumer commission or other forum under Indian law.
17. If part of these terms cannot be enforced
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
18. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and for significant changes we will also tell schools or show a notice in the Service. If you keep using the Service after a change, you accept the updated terms.
